The Review: Redefining Islamophobia
Every November, the UK recognises Islamophobia awareness month. But without an agreed definition of Islamophobia, how can policy makers and communities tackle it? In 2019, the government was criticised for rejecting a proposed working definition created by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on British Muslims. The definition, adopted by many states that Islamophobia is rooted in racism and is a type of racism that targets expressions of Muslimness or perceived Muslimness. So, how important is it we have one definition for all?
